Waiting on the Lord
Have you ever been in a season where you felt stuck? Not because of anything you did wrong, but simply because nothing seemed to be moving forward, no matter how hard you pushed.
It can be hard to know what to do with that feeling. We are wired to get things done. Waiting doesn’t come naturally, and sometimes it can feel like we have been forgotten.
But waiting is baked into the Christian life. Isaiah says: “[T]hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint,” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV).
F.B. Meyer wrote something similar, but while also contrasting those who wait with those of the world: “[T]hose who wait on God are stronger in their weakness than the sons of men in their stoutest health and vigor.”
The world runs on self-sufficiency. But the person who has learned to wait on God draws from a well that never runs dry.
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”
Psalm 130:5, NIV
